ABSTRACT

This article examines the transformation of the role of project management in research and development projects and the influence of digitalization in this context. It works with the theoretical concept of the transformation of projectization with a core emphasis on project management and (increasingly) on flexibility, innovation and supportive leadership in the form of coaching. Empirical ideal types are project leadership in the sense of classical waterfall projects and scrum masters, who are not leaders in the true sense, but a process owner or owners without a direct leadership function.
