ABSTRACT

Manipulation of financial information is an ever-lasting problem of Corporate America. Manipulation of financial information is an intentional intervention in the accounting process to distort a company's performance and financial positions for private gains. The purpose of this paper is to understand the motivations behind financial manipulation, analyze the various tricks employed by businesses, and try to explore and answer the question: is manipulation of financial information detectable?
