ABSTRACT

The development of the marine economy is the subject of much interest in the world today, especially in the nations bordering the seas, because of its great contribution to socio-economic development. Vietnam, a country with important geopolitical location and great potential for marine economy development is promoting the development of the marine economy to become a regional and international power in the world by 2020. The article analyzes some of the basic arguments for the marine economy, as well as the sectors of maritime economy, and further clarifies some of the domestic recent research findings, and analyzes a number of development policies of marine economy of China and Japan, as well as analyzes the contribution of the marine economy to the global economy and status of marine economy of Vietnam.
